Fall Update on Heriot Bay Fire Hall #2 Replacement Project

Progress is being made on the Heriot Bay Fire Hall #2 Replacement Project, bringing the community one step closer to a modern, safe, and energy efficient facility.

On September 4, test hole drilling was completed at the site to establish the seismic requirements for the new building’s foundation, an important milestone in preparing for construction. The South Quadra Fire Protection District is hoping to break ground in March 2026.

Community support for the project is strong and very much appreciated! Thank you so much to the Quadra Island Legion who recently hosted a Bingo night on September 13th, and to everyone who attended.  The proceeds of $1675 will be going toward the construction of the new Fire Hall #2.

In another positive development, the South Quadra Fire Protection District has been officially designated as a charitable organization, allowing it to issue tax receipts for donations. “We just recently got designated to have charitable donation status,” says Fire Chief Sharon Clandening. “This means we can give tax receipts out to people who give us money, which is exciting because we could never do that in the past.”

Looking ahead, the Trustees will be discussing fundraising ideas at their meeting in November.  Any suggestions or offers of assistance are most welcome and can be directed to qifirehallreplacement@gmail.com.  Donations via cheque are very much appreciated and can be mailed to P.O. Box 80, Quathiaski Cove, BC, V0P 1N0 or dropped it off at Hall #1, 844 Heriot Bay Road.  We also accept cash donations.  Please include your name and address so we can provide you with a tax receipt.

Thank you Quadra Island for your continued support and community spirit. We couldn’t do this without you!
